Vilamuseu's Accessibility is on the ONCE (lotery) ticket

Vilamuseu’s universal accessibility appears as a motif on the ONCE ticket for Monday 2nd March. Five and a half million tickets will be issued ‘advertising’ this Villajoyosa museum space.

Estela Medina, Director of ONCE Alicante, Andreu Verdú, Mayor of Villajoyosa, Antonio Espinosa, Museum Director and Xente Sebastiá, Councillor for Historical Heritage at Villajoyosa Local Authority are shown presenting the ticket.

Vilamuseu opened its doors to the public in November 2016, although its origins can be traced back to 1973. It is located on the site of the old Colegio Público Álvaro Esquerdo, an eclectic style building of which the façade has been preserved.

The museum has an exceptional, extensive collection, including Phoenician, Punic and Greek objects. Particularly noticeable is the collection of Iberian ceramics painted in the style of Villajoyosa and amongst which can be found the ‘Glass from the threshold of the afterlife’.
Another important feature of Vilamuseu is its accessibility which allows those with a disability to enjoy the collection. For people who are blind or have limited vision, on each floor there is an information desk with a tactile plan of the museum with audio, braille and macrotype containing a directory of the whole of the building. In addition, the museum signage has heavily contrasting macrotype text with pictograms. There is, also, a high colour contrast between doors and walls.

For people with other disabilities the museum has full accessibility with a magnetic loop system, QR codes, desks set at the correct height for wheelchairs users, amongst other features.

The ONCE daily ticket, for 1.5 euros, offers 55 prizes of 35,000 euros for five numbers. For 0.5 euros more, the customer has a chance to play in the series and win “La Paga” which is 3000 euros a month for 25 years in addition to the 35,000 euros prize.

The ONCE tickets are sold through approximately 20,000 agents which forms the sales network. Besides that one can buy tickets from www.juegosonce.es and at authorised outlets.
