Description
Every morning from the 27th to the 28th of July, La Vila Joiosa experiences the ‘Desembarc’, a unique spectacle and the central event of its Moors and Christians festivities. Because of its historical relevance and emotional charge, Evaristo Alguacil wanted to capture its sensations through nineteen paintings inspired by the great geniuses of universal painting. Alguacil pays tribute to Picasso, Van Gogh, Rembrandt and Goya, among others, in this creative project in which he imagines how they would have painted the ‘Desembarc’, immortalising their moments and messages. A tribute to the festival and to the masters of art, from Alguacil's unique perspective.
The technique of Evaristo Alguacil
Evaristo Alguacil, a self-taught artist who later graduated in Fine Arts, has developed a personal style based on the use of the palette knife, a complex tool that he has mastered with ease after years of practice in Europe and the USA. His painting, influenced by direct observation of nature, is characterised by an intense chromatic expressiveness and a luminous and vital abstraction.
