The Archaeological Museum of Gandía will have two pieces from Vilamuseu in its permanent exhibition.

The Archaeological Museum of Gandia (MAGa) inaugurates on the 22nd of December a new permanent exhibition room dedicated to the ancient world, inside the main building of the Museum. To form part of this permanent exhibition, the MAGa has asked Vilamuseu for the temporary loan of two pieces from the cargo of the Bou Ferrer wreck, as it does not have any pieces of these characteristics in its collection. The Bou Ferrer is a very important project on an international level, as with its cargo of some 4000 amphorae, it is the largest Roman ship in the Mediterranean in the process of being excavated, but it is also crucial for understanding maritime trade in the ancient Mediterranean and at the MAGa our pieces will serve to explain this subject.

The pieces in question are a Dressel 7-11 amphora from the wreck's main cargo carrying fish sauce and a lead ingot from the secondary cargo, which weighs 65,400 kg and bears the countermarks - IMP.GER; - AVG identifying the Emperor Nero himself as the recipient of the cargo. The transport of the pieces was carried out a few days ago with all the security measures by the company Arterri. Transpòrt d'art with the supervision of the technicians of both museums.
