The Regional Ministry of Education, Culture, Universities and Employment has awarded a grant of €30,000 to Villajoyosa Town Council for the modernisation, conservation, equipping and adaptation of the Vilamuseu infrastructure.

The grant has been allocated to carry out actions in different areas. With regard to the renovation of the exhibition space and the incorporation of new technologies into the museum's resources, the home automation system that controls the air conditioning and lighting at Vilamuseu has been repaired. Both are necessary for public visits and use of the facilities and to maintain the environmental conditions for preserving the museum's heritage collection. Under this same heading, museum spotlights and fluorescent tubes have been replaced and programmed to be integrated into the museum's home automation system, which allows the intensity of the lighting in the rooms to be regulated and programmed.

Another item is the acquisition or renewal of computer equipment and work related to the creation, updating and maintenance of inventories. In this case, an SQL licence has been acquired for the DOMUS computer programme (a computer system for the management and cataloguing of museum and documentary collections developed by the Spanish Ministry of Culture, derived from the Museum Document Standardisation Project) used at Vilamuseu for the inventory and cataloguing of its collections. The audio system in Room A of Vilamuseu has also been updated with new microphones and playback equipment, and computer equipment has been purchased to replace obsolete equipment.

In terms of the renovation, conservation and improvement of infrastructure for cultural purposes, work has been carried out on painting the La Barbera dels Aragonés House Museum and on painting some areas of Vilamuseu that do not contain cultural assets, such as lobbies, corridors, offices, Room A and the educational workshop. Another intervention has been the repair and overhaul of the generator set.

On the other hand, in order to improve public access to cultural heritage, a handrail has been installed on the ramp leading to the platform where the speakers' table is located in Room A. In addition, a rounded protective cover has been placed on the main counter in the museum hall, as it has a pointed design and could be a hazard if someone trips or bumps into the counter.

The award is due to the innovative nature of the actions in some aspects, such as the inclusion or cataloguing of collections using scientific criteria, as well as the museum's activity in terms of opening hours, activities and number of annual visitors.
