Vilamuseu launches a dramatized visit to the exhibition 'Slaves of Beauty'
Next August 2, Vilamuseu launches a theatrical visit to its new exhibition Slaves of Beauty. It is a funny and entertaining way to know the pieces and contents of the exhibition, without losing the quality in the information that is offered to visitors.
The new exhibition 'Slaves of Beauty. Dress and personal adornment in Antiquity' is dedicated to dress, image and personal care in the different cultures of Antiquity through archaeological pieces found in Villajoyosa. There are also scenographies, replicas of pieces, costumes, hairstyles , etc. about life from the Phoenician colony to the Roman city of Allon. 115 of the 150 pieces exhibited are shown to the public for the first time. Some of them are of great archaeological value, such as a magnificent Greek terracotta, the Iberian vessels of the Warriors of Poble Nou, an Egyptian alabaster, a Phoenician guttus in the form of a duck, etc.
In the dramatized visit visitors have to help a character from the Iberian era to fulfill their mission. She tells them everything she knows about clothing, dyes, cosmetics and jewelry both of her culture and of the Romans. The character is placed around the year 45 BC, when the Iberian city already belonged to Rome for a century and a half, so that both cultures coexisted. It is, therefore, a very participatory, fun and sensory visit the whole family will enjoy.
Vilamuseu was one of the pioneering museums to launch dramatized visits in the province of Alicante a decade ago. It's the participation that prevails on the representation, to turn them into an experience for all the publics.
The dramatized visits will take place every Thursday at 7.30 pm and Saturdays at 11.30 am., and have a cost of € 2 plus admission to the museum.
