Description
This travelling exhibition, dedicated to the oil lamps from the Roman era, is intended to make known the usefulness, form and decorative properties of these objects that were changing throughout the centuries of Roman dominance.
The lamps come from different places within the Alicante Province and include some from the Iberian era. They represent all the stages of the Roman times. These pieces didn't disappear with the Roman world but developed over the centuries and lasted until practically a few decades ago when metal lanterns were used.
Accompanying the exhibition are samples of lamps from the Vilamuseu collection. These were found in our district, during archaeological excavations, mainly in the Roman cemeteries and villas.
Guided visits: Saturday and Sunday at 13.00
