Islamic period

In the 4th century, urban life in Allon began to decline and the great lords moved to their increasingly large, populated and luxurious rural residences. After the Islamic invasion of the Peninsula in 711, the population moved to scattered farmhouses and Islamic villages, as in the case of l'Almiserà. Only in the Plans area do we find a seaside settlement.

In the village of l'Almiserà (Vilajoiosa) there is the first rural mosque found in the Valencian Community. Around it, three farmhouses and an Islamic cemetery have been excavated.

Among the Islamic objects in the Vilamuseu collection, a funeral inscription dated between the years 1050 and 1080 stands out, among other pieces that make up a representative example of Islamic art in the Peninsula.
