This flat plate belongs to a set of fine earthenware from the Pickman- La Cartuja de Sevilla factory. The series is titled "Views of Spain" and it was made between 1841 and 1860. It belongs to the collection of the House Museum Barbera dels Aragonés.
One of the first crockery that Pickman produced when he established his earthenware factory in the old Charterhouse of Seville, was the series "Views of Spain" in brown colour. It is the most complete tableware that remains from this series. The pieces are decorated with idealized views of Spanish landscapes.
In the central scene of this piece a pair of dancers appears who dance a bolero, a popular dance of the 19th century.
