Cristóbal Morales was captain of several steamers of the Compañía Trasatlántica, including what was the most luxurious liner in Spain at the time, the steamship Reina Victoria Eugenia, which could carry 1,500 passengers and 300 crew. He made his last voyage on this ship as captain, as he died on board on the crossing between Tenerife and Montevideo on 21 July 1923.
At Vilamuseu we are working on a small exhibition on Captain Morales and on the Reina Victoria Eugenia as part of the project Veus de la Mar of the Museu Marítim de Barcelona, which Vilamuseu joined last summer and in which some volunteers are collaborating. We will soon have the dates of the exhibition and more information about its contents.
