This intergovernmental organization is the organizer of the Ibero-American Summits.

Vilamuseu is one of the six Spanish museums chosen, on the motion of the Subdirectorate General for Museums of the Ministry of Culture, which are added to the rest of the countries. These 50 museums have been selected among the 7101 that are part of the Register of Ibero-American Museums, althouth in reality there are more than 10.000 museums in this area. That is, only 1 of every 200 Ibero-American museums and 1 of every 250 Spanish museums has been chosen.

A recognition for the work that has been carried out in social, cultural, environmental and economic matters, promoting a management that responds to the needs of its environment and enhancing the museological heritage fot present and future generations, also allowing the recognition of its work in the Ibero-American region”.

Vilamuseu will participate in this complex project of International Analysis of Good Practices in museums in the coming months, through meticulous virtual interviews among the museum’s management team and the Consultant that conducts the work in Brazil. Accessibility and inclusion, citizen participation, recycling of exhibition materials and low environmental impact are some of the strenghts valued to choose Vilamuseu.

Ibermuseos counts on the administrative collabotation of the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI) and financial support from the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), which already invited the director of Vilamuseu in 2009 to provide training sessions at the Sao Paulo Cultural Centre (Brazil) in the International Seminar “Acesso em Reverso”, as a Spanish reference in accessibility to museums.
