“Achaeologycal Mission” is an intensive course of a week’s duration, where the children will be able to learn how archaeologist work under water, since they will see during the workshop how the pieces are treated in the Vilamuseu laboratory. This way, they will learn the effort of the archaeologists, in order to understand what happens to a piece from the moment in which it is found until it is exhibited in the museum’s showcase.
On Tuesday, the first course’s day, all the secrets of the Bou Ferrer will be revealed, such as its discovery, the digging method and the materials and tools that are needed in order to obtain the recovery of the wreck. Furthermore, the second day (Wednesday), the children will take the plunge into the diving world in a pool, under the supervision of the Underwater Activities Centre AliSub, in order to let them understand the sensations of the underwater archaeologists. On the third day (Thursday), the Vilamuseu’s restorer will show them different pieces that come from the last digging campaigns of Bou Ferrer. She will also explain them the treatments that have been used for their conservation out of water. On Friday, the last day of the course, the participants will divulge and state the results of this scientific investigation in which they have involved during this underwater archaeology campaign.
