The director of Vilamuseu, as an international reference museum in universal accessibility, has previously participated in the qualitative phase of the project, in the discussion group formed by leading experts in tourism accessibility. Their contribution made it possible to design a data architecture for the platform, which is being developed by the ONCE Foundation, in collaboration with ILUNION and ATOS.
Following the development of the data model, the ONCE Foundation, on behalf of SEGITTUR (promoter of the project), has once again invited Antonio Espinosa to participate in the evaluation phase, together with other leading professionals. In the individual session, the director of Vilamuseu gave his assessment and suggestions for each of the 88 accessibility indicators in the tourism sector proposed for museums and cultural heritage sites for the statewide Smart Platform. Although Vilamuseu's contributions have touched on physical and sensory accessibility, in this case they have had a greater impact on intellectual accessibility, and more specifically on tourists with autism.
The Town Council of La Vila Joiosa thus contributes its experience and prestige, repeatedly recognised in international awards, to the model of the Spanish system of Smart Tourist Destinations in terms of accessibility to museums and heritage.
