Vilamuseu and the Municipal Archive of Vila Joiosa will document this Saturday with citizen help the current historical moment

The coronavirus or COVID-19, the lockdown, the applause... will soon be history. And history, as Vilamuseu's team tells us, "has to be documented". So, the municipal museum in charge of keeping and preserving the history of Vila Joiosa and the Municipal Archive invite the citizens of Vila Joiosa to document this historical moment.

This Saturday 25th April at 8pm, we suggest you go out to the balcony and record a video of the applause in your street or the place where you live in Vila Joiosa. "We want all the streets, places and places where work is being done in Vila Joiosa to be there", they say from the museum. "We will keep them in Vilamuseu and in the Municipal Archive as a historical document for posterity, to be used as a learning tool or for future exhibitions, as well as making a video of them all."

Send your video to Whatsapp 628 993 175 or email vilamuseu@villajoyosa.com, indicating your name, street and number, or the place where you recorded it. It is requested, that the recording of the videos is done in horizontal direction.

"We want that people from their homes show their commitment to everyone, to the health workers, security forces, staff of food stores, cleaning, or any other essential group that have not ceased their activity during these days of crisis, thanking them for their work every day at 8 pm; we want their testimony to be a legacy forever. We want it to be passed on to future generations, to show them how we are fighting against it and to help them learn from our experience," said the councillor of the Historical Heritage, Xente Sebastià.

Later, when the restrictions of the current state of alarm would allow it, Vilamuseu and the Municipal Archive will request not only videos, but also the graphic and material memory of this moment that is history: banners, photos, drawings, diaries, writings, posters, everyday objects, videos, personal reflections, how your family or your company or association has experienced it, solidarity initiatives... "In this way we will be able to transmit to the future the lessons we have learned, solidarity, effort, imagination, creativity... and how we have faced an unusual situation", concludes the councillor for Historical Heritage.
