The Hermitage school (panel 26)
It was built in 1908.
It was the first public school built in Villajoyosa.

Juan Samper gifted the land and Dr. Álvaro Esquerdo, born in this neighbourhood, paid for the work.
The school had rooms for teachers and for the vicar of the Hermitage.
The council restored the building in 2009 for various uses.
Esquerdo also built the school in the Calle de Colón, now Vilamuseu, the museum of the city of Villajoyosa.
