Pepe Payá, Honorary Director of Vilamuseu

Vilamuseu celebrated yesterday an emotional act in which the official chronicler of the Vila Joiosa, Pepe Payá, was named honorary director of the municipal museum. The event was chaired by the Mayor of Vila Joiosa, Andreu Verdú.
 
Pepe Payá helped his father in the wineskin workshop while he studied 'Peritaje Mercantil’ and ‘Magisterio' (Commercial Expertise and Education) and took notes on a bookrest.Thus begins his journey as a poet, so many times recognised with awards, and writer of novels and essays focused on the history of Villajoyosa. 
 
Since the sixties, he has edited and collaborated in numerous ewspapers.
In 1968 the newspaper Información declared him "Province Man of the Year". As Official Chronicler of Villajoyosa, he discovered the text of the Town Charter in 1987. Leading a group of volunteers, as director of the Casa de la Cultura (Culture House), from 1973 he created the Ethnographic and Historical Museum, the origin of this one.
